Maybe the best read ever! Death to the Suit!

Recently I was going through digg.com and came across a link to possibly the best article I have read in years. If anyone knows me, I am pretty casual in what I wear. Well Mark Cuban owner of the Mavs and various other businesses, has written an entry on his blog that sums up my perspective on suits and what someone should wear to work. I wish more CEOs and execs would see things and think this way. I guess it just shows how old school they really are.

Mark great job! Ok, now can I work for you?

Side Projects

Well many times I have taken on side projects, but now I decided to do one of my own. The one or two people who actually ever read my blog may know the fact that I really enjoy fly fishing. The fly fishing world does not have many great web portals out there. So basically I am decided to start my own. I am going in this with the reality that it may take 4-6 months to even do the initial launch of the site, but I figure I want to get something up that is really good and a useful tool to other fly fishers. Well the name of the site is theFLYKNOT.com. I have a landing page right now. I already have the look and feel of the site complete, now the process of building it out and filling it with content starts.

So wish me luck!

Experience this...

I have been reading a blog for a while. It is truly one of the better ones. Recently Carlos Whittaker went on a trip of a lifetime to adopt his son from Korea. This really was such a great experience that Carlos let the world in on. Check it out when you get a chance.

I have a dream

So I have the dream or goal. I grew up in the ministry. My father is a minister, my brother is a minister, my grandfather was a minister, my father-in-law is a minister and missionary. I think you get my point that I have been involved or have always had people around me whom have been in ministry. With this, ministry has always been on my heart. So back to my goal. I have this goal to start a ministry or non-profit to help other ministries and non-profits that are aimed at building the kingdom who can't afford marketing efforts and resources. This would range from things such as design, web development, copy writing, consulting, printing, marketing collateral, etc. I just feel that this is a need that is out there and that with the talent that God has given me and the other connections I have that this is something I need to do.

Even though I have the skills etc, there are some funding issues. I know there are other organizations out there that are willing to fund and give grants for these kind of efforts. If anyone knows or have any ideas on these type of things, please contact me and let me know.

I have started building the initial web site that I plan to launch for this (just in step 1 out of 10). Please check out ministryminded.com and let me know what you think. Here is a pic of what the layout of the homepage will look like.
